Dear Mr Clause

Dear Santa

I am giving you a warning that my chimney is very thin and I am not sure than your rump is going to fit down it. So I am not very sure how you have been breaking into my house for the past few years. I'm also very annoyed that you have been drinking my milk and eating my cookies, so this year I hope you get the idea that I want more cookies and milk.

I have been very good this year so maybe instead of puzzles and clothes that you have been giving me like I have been a bad boy can you give me something along the lines of a PS4 and games? If you do you can have my cookies and milk this year.

Also I have been wondering how nobody has caught you sneaking into people's houses and giving them toys because you are very large person and some people have decorations around on their floor so how have you managed to get around their houses in a pitch black house without making a sound? Another thing how do you stay awake all night, do you have a secret storage of Red Bull in your slay?

So this year I hope you will reply to my letter and will give me what I want for Christmas, hope you can do that if you can that would be great.

From A good little boy

Third World Countries

Today we were given the topic Third World countries. In my discoveries I found that there are three types of Countries First World being the really developed countries like France, Second World countries which arindustrial countries like Russia and then there are Third World countries which most of the homes suffer from poverty.

I also found out that one of the worst Third World countries is Zimbabwe. The country currently faces a huge economic problem. They country had to recently print out a trillion dollar bill as the exchange rate is $1 NZD to $300 ZWD. The country's dictator is among the top 10 worst hated. So before you say "Mum can I have some pocket money?" think about the Zimbabweans.

Japan. An island in east asia, located in the Pacific Ocean. The other day in our class we had a student from Japan, he was from Kyoto, he is one of the 1.5 million people who live in kyoto. When I was eight me and my family travailed to Japan we stayed in a small fishing village, not far from Kyoto so I went to see. They were also lucky enough to be removed from the atomic bomb list back in world war 2.

45 min inquiry

….a rose by any other name….

In 1591 to 1595 the play Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare. In the book there was one famous quote that has been still well using in todays world. The name of a rose by any other name, would still smell the same.

The quote the was said by Juliet has been used in many TV shows including CSI crime scene Investigation in season 10 episode 16, The Simpsons The principal and the pauper and it is also a weapon description in Border Lands 2.

When Juliet said it she was meaning don't judge something by its name judge it by what it is so that Romeo knew that she didn't care about his family name (As there families were enemy's) and that she would love him no mater what his last name was.

45 min inquiry

In the Port Of Tauranga on 10 rata street there is a company call C3 Ltd; they produce NZ range of wood. They have approximately 23 million logs of wood in there grounds and produce 63 thousand logs per day but for every tree the chop down they plant 3 new samplings.

C3 gets there logs from either over seas in China or in Hineva forest. After they have chopped and cleaned the wood they send if back to China from building resources, repairs and fences. At C3 they can only chop a tree down when it is mature because that is when they know it won't get any bigger. Also C3 is apart of the Port of tauranga which is a huge company that covers over 113 hectors if land, no wonder they can store so much wood.

45 minute inquiry

On 2011 the New Zealand curling team was taken to the Asia pacific championship of curling in china.
Our team in this photo is taking on China.

Sadly what I found out was Canada won gold, Norway got silver, switzerland went home with a bronze. Not any thing for the kiwis. Although I think the did pretty well considering that only few places in New Zealand your could play this game.

The game looks very hard. One team mate lightly pushing a stone to give it a boost and then two of the other players using brooms to try control the stone to get it close to the middle of a bullseye. I think the kiwis did great.

Describe a Dystopian picture

BAM, the cars in front of me screeched to a halt.  Yet another car crash had happened further up the line. "Agh" I moaned loudly "I really need to get to work, this can't be happening now. What a great way to start my day looking through the smog at these power plants for a couple of hours" I sat back and tried to close my eyes. I couldn't, the clanging coming from the millions of factories in the distance was too loud. I was starting to get annoyed as there was nothing for me to do, I looked out the window and stared into the scorched pasture. "Ha" I laughed to myself "So much for nuke the Aliens its the best option."

On a plane, bumpy and tired can't even fall asleep.
On a bus, so many corners keeping me awake.
At a house, lovely bed finally falling fast asleep.
Hearing an alarm, oh what an annoying sound.

Week 6-7 Homework

Practical task
For my 1km walk I decided I would walk 500 meters from my house then walk back, making it 1000 meters or 1 kilometer. Here is the map of my walk here.

It took me approximately 13 minutes and 13 seconds. According to google maps it was supposed to only take around 12 minutes. They totally could have gotten closer to 13 minutes at least.  Maybe it was adult tested or maybe it was Usain bolt.

Savant

A savant is autistic person with amazing attributes. They could have special skills like having a memory that never forgets or having maths skills beyond any of us. A man called Daniel Tammet memorized Pi up to 22,000. But this is not his only ability he is also a maths genius, If you ask him any quest him he will answer it within the first 5 seconds of you asking him it. For instance 17x17x17x17 this would be very difficult for most of us but Daniel worked this out in 3 seconds and with answer of 83,521. This is correct. But their is not many of these gifted people in the world theres only 52. Not enough if you ask me.

My Weekend Poem

Weekend weekend weekend.
Every day was so much fun.
I was playing games all day.
And having so much fun.

In the morning I played football.
Kicking the ball as far as I could.
It only got half way on the pitch.
Cause of the wind it blew it back.
Making me feel like I was fat.

Doing my homework is so boring.
Making me feel like I'm snoring.
Even though we have to do it.
I will surely survive.
Its only one moment in my life.
Its going to pass into the light.

Weekend weekend weekend.
Why did you go so fast.
You were gone just like a blast.
I'll will have to wait a week or so.
Until you come again.

Bullying is fun

Have you ever wanted to make some one feel really bad. Try bullying, you should try it so much fun. You can get a meeting with your principle, he's gonna yell and tell you its bad but inside he thinks you doing the right thing. Also if you go really far you can go into a free hotel its like 5 stars, I think its name is J.A.I.L thats stands for Just Awesome Is Low, plus they can give you 5 starts meals, like puke and dog poop, trust me it's just yummy I can eat it all day. While your in J.A.I.L you can meet some really nice people. They will do things with you that rhyme with grape and they love to show you their knifes and hands very closely to your chest and face. So if you love to get beaten up and put down by every one go ahead it's gonna be fun bullying people. (Bullying is not cool don't do it)

Take aways are good

For
*They are very cheap so that you can buy more to feed your family, that way low income family's can feed their children.
*Some of the meals they have can be nutritious and good for young children, by giving them filling meals.
*The happy meal can give a child a cheap meal along with a toy that they can play with.
Against
*Some of the meals can be fatty and make children addicted and eventually over weight.
*The meals can be very low quality and poorly cooked, lowering the heath standards for their meals.

What annoys me

What annoys me the most

People with their smelly breath who haven't brushed their teeth, crying babies in an elevator give me a head ache, shouting people next to me yelling in my ear, probably killing my ear drums but they don't care.

But the worst one of all would have to be, people wreaking your property, you've worked hard to get it but they don't care there just destroying cause they think its unfair, even if they do get caught what gonna happen? They'll pay a fine maybe go to jail but what about your house its all broken so even if you lost your photos there gone forever. All the memories, all the work its gone in a instant. I say we change it make it fair for us.

Is Homework Good

For

  • It can give you a better understanding that can help you in your subjects.

The Holidays

Last holidays went fast there were some good moments and some bad moments, one of the best things that happened was I went on a snow boarding camp with Coast Kids to Mt Ruapehu for 1 week.

On the first day we took a 5 hour van ride all the way to Turoa on the other side of Whakapapa, The trip was long and hard but about half way we stopped for BK so that was pretty cool. When we had finally arrived at the lodge it was around 4:30pm so most of us were pretty tired and didn't really want to do apart from sit down and look at the snow reports for the day until we were sent to our bunks by the leaders.

The next day we got up real early so we could hire gear from the place next door all I had to hire was the boots and board for the day. We set of around 6:00am, apparently so we could get a good park but I didn't really mind walk.

Book Review 2

Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports is the third book in the Maximum ride series by Jame Patterson. It was released in the UK and the US on May 29, 2007. The series is set in modern times, and centers around the 'flock', a group of human-avian hybrids on the run from the scientists who created them.

In this book Max and her flock are faced with the task of saving the world from a massive company called Itex, and it's leader known as the Director. Itex's plan is to cut the world's population in half, by killing every one with a weakness or problem. As the story goes on, the scientists replace the Erasers (wolf/human hybrids) that are sent to hunt the flock with robotic ones called Flyboys that are stronger, faster but a lot more stupid.

I really enjoyed this book because I liked how James Patterson had added so much detail about the characters and how they would feel in a situation. I think this made the book a lot better than it would've been if he hadn't done that because it gave a touch of personalty towards the characters. Another thing I liked was how some of the main characters were bird kids, cause I think that being able to fly would be awesome cause you wouldn't have to pay for airplanes you could just fly over there instead.

If I were to choose another book to read I would look to get the first in this series so that way I can find out the whole story as I haven't read any other of the books in the series, which I think is a big mistake.

Book Review 1

How to train your dragon

A Hero’s Guide to Deadly Dragons

Imagine a time of Dragon and Vikings, some dragons bigger than mountains some smaller than your fingernail, and when men were men and women were sort of men and even some little babies had chest hair. This How to train your Dragon book  really makes you feel like you're there, with the descriptive language and awesome characters. The book I’ve read is the sixth in the series, and was first published in Great Britain by Hodder children’s books, and all of the books are written and illustrated by Cressida Cowell.

Have you ever come across a book that however hard you try you can’t put it down? This is one of those books, as you follow the continuing story of Hiccup and his dragon Toothless. The more you read the more you want to find out what is going to happen next and will Hiccup complete his quest. Well this is one of these books

In this adventure Hiccups Dragon Toothless has burnt Hiccups tribes most valuable possession the “How to train your dragon” book(that Only has has three words “Yell at it”). His tribe the hairy Hooligans chief (Hiccups Father), made a bet with the Chief of the Bog-Burglars that they were just as good or better at everything than Bog-Burglars, and to prove this they had a competition. The Hooligans had lost most of the competitions and there was only one left, it was the burglary one.  Hiccups father Stoick was going to show the Bog-Burglars chief Big-Boobied Beartha the “How to Train your dragon” book to prove that the Hooligans are just as good as the Bog-Burglars at burglary.

Books are despised by vikings, they are seen as a threat to barbarian culture. Because they were banned they were locked up in the great Meathead Public Library, guarded by the Hairy Scary Librarian and his dreadful army of Meathead Warriors and Driller Dragons.  So scary was this Librarian that stealing a book from the library had become a challenge to the bravest viking warriors and very few could say they had succeeded in the attempt. This was how the Hooligan tribe had got the “How to train your Dragon” book.
Here is the problem Hiccup has to help his father as he does not want him to be sad, but the only other copy of the book is in the Meathead Public Library which is not so public as the Meathead tribe guards it day and night with there huge dragon by their side. This is where Hiccup is stuck, he can not do this on his own, he needs the help of his friends Fishlegs and Camicazi.

If you want to find out if Hiccup completes his quest, gets the book, doesn't disappoint his father and survives all the dragons along the way, you will need to read this book.  Hopefully you will enjoy reading this adventure of Hiccups as much as I did.

The Production

Yesterday on the 04-07-13 me and about another 449 other kids from all over the school went to see the school production A Most Triumph Tale. Some of the people in my house had some main acts so I knew some of the actors and they weren't just strangers, well some of them. I turned out to be a great show with a bunch of surprises that lept onto the stage and made you think "Is he supposed to be doing that?" or "Is this part of the show?". So I would say all together the show had some errors but I loved it and would go again.

Persuasion To Start a Sport

One of the awesome sports I do is soccer. I have played it ever since I was five and I continue to love the game. If you are looking for a sport to play I would suggest this one because its a team sport so you can meet new people in your team and in the teams you verse and no matter what position you play in its very important because in the end all of the positions in the team are important to being the best team possible.

Homework Challenge

A3. Decide on one or more ways to save energy or recycle at home: show and action plan for at lease 5 weeks over 2 terms

I designed a plan to save energy by: 1. Looking at all the items in the house that use electricity, 2. Looking at the list and finding which ones didn't need to be turned on all the time like the heated towel rail, the TV, lights and computers, 3. Using my plan over a four week period to every day turn off all the items on my list and taking daily meter readings to monitor our power usage.

I started my plan by taking daily readings of our power meter for a week without turning any thing off or making any changes, this was to give me an idea on how much power we normally use. I then for the next four weeks put in place stage 3 on my plan. Over all we did make savings except for the last couple of days in week four, this was because my Mum had to use the dryer which dosen't happen often. An other thing was that we had a power bill come in that was for the period when I had been turning every thing off and Mum said it was the cheapest power bill we had received in years, a saving of about 40 dollars.

Here is a summary of our daily power usage below.

A Bad Product or Service

Mac Donalds

When I was around eight me and my Dad were going though the drive through at Maca's for dinner, I had ordered a cheese burger without pickle, onion and add bacon and what I received was a cheese burger with a under sized patty, pickle, onion, mayo and the blackest bacon you would ever see, and most importantly no tomato sauce. Sadly I didn't get a refund cause we were at home by the time I had noticed this. Now every time we go through the drive though we check our order and check in the bag.

Captcha

Most of you people out there have probably done a Captcha before maybe even more than 50 times so you may think you know what it is, a pain. But you are wrong what you are acutely doing is helping the world. Back in the old days most of the books were hand written as the technology we have today was around back in those days, so now days with our kindles and the Ibook app the old books that were hand written can't be converted onto these. So what Captcha does is it makes you do it for the world by putting a word that the computer can't read onto a Captcha and making you type what it is, but thats no the only thing Captcha does it stops programs from spamming your website, blog and other things like that. So you see it may be a pain but your helping the world and how many days would you get to save the world.

My Dads Job

My Dad works for a company called M.A.F which stands for Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's but I just call it M.A.F.  He pretty much checks if people are bringing ilegal things into the country like drugs, plants, insects, all sorts of things.

Some times if hes lucky hes gets to go overseas with his job to places like America, Japan, Australia and even Dubai, I think hes pretty lucky to do this on a regular basis. Somes times if im lucky he brings me weird and strange things that you can only get in those countries, like when I was about five he brought me home a Mac Donalds toy but it was way cooler than the ones when get here.

My weekend had a pretty ruff start with heading to the chiropractors on friday cause of a really bad head ache I had, at the chiropractors one of the things I remember the lady saying was "oh you've been having a lot of pop corn haven't you?" when she was clicking by bones. So that was a pretty soar start to the weekend. When the lady was finished with me she talked to my Mum gave her some medic and then we left.

When I got home the first thing I did was sit down on the couch and turned on the TV. About 30 minutes later I was starving as I had missed out on breakfast cause of the time me and Mum went to the chiropractors, but since we had just been I was pretty much way too stiff to move to there was only one thing I could do, "Mum mee is Hungie I need munchies" is a bit what it came out in. With in 5 minutes I had a bowl of noodles in front of me, So I was pretty happy that saying that worked.

By the end of the day I was still pretty soar but we had soup for dinner, but the rugby was on that means I got a parent yelling at the TV saying"Go Go, don't pass the ball you idiot" and that sort of thing. So by the end of the day I was pretty wasted but thats a good thing, cause I slept like a rock.

My Weekend

In the weekend I had a lot of mixed feelings at some points I was excited and other points I was sad but most of the time I was really hungry. On saturday I had a game of soccer it was really even, it was 3 all, but my team was having a bad game I think only half of us actually ate our breakfast that day so I was pretty tired from running around after that, as I had actually had my breakfast that day.

When the game was over mum drove me home and I had a shower, but after I had finished my shower I had to start my 24 hours without eating, it was no easy challenge as my dad kept saying "I might have some waffels for dinner" doing this really gave me a hunger for waffels after he had did it for the 10th time. I finished this the first thing I said was "mum can we go out and get some waffels?" her response was a sudden "no", this did make me a little sad.

Homework Challenge

This weekend I have been taking part in the 40hour famine to raise money for hungry children in other countries. The 40 hour famine is pretty much where you do something like going with out food, with technology or even taking a vow of silence, but you have to do this for 40 hours, in my case only 24 hours because of how old I am, and get people to sponsor you in doing this. I chose to go without food for 24 hours, I thought this would be easy cause mum sometimes has to remind me to eat.

This was no easy challenge though because around 5 hours after I had started, at 12:00am on Saturday, I started to crave waffels cause of my dad saying "Oh think I might have some waffles for dinner", this really started make things hard after he did this for about the 10th time.

The only things that I was allowed to have were 1 juice box of Just Juice and 1 barley sugar every hour. From doing this challenge I have learnt how hard and sad it is for all the children who don't have enough food or water and how it means they don't have a lot of energy to do things. I will finnish doing this at 12:00 am today and realize how lucky I am.

Here is a photo of my profile on the 40hour famine website.
You can see I have raised 20 dollars so far towards my 40 dollar goal, with more to come in the next few days.

I wonder why toasters have a setting that will horribly burn your toast that no one will eat

I have had to search to find the answer for this question, it was a hard one but when I found the answer I realized why this is good to have this setting. I found out this setting is used to defrost things that are frozen like bagels waffels and english muffins, also some people do like their toast on the crispy side, I don't but you might. So there you have it thats why they have that setting on your toaster.

Why do we look the way we do and not like something else

Why do we look the way we do and not like something else?

The reason we look the way we do is because of our parents and our grand parents. Some people you may see people that look a lot like their parents, but some people don't. If some dosen't it look like their parents it means they've got their features from some one further down the line in their family tree.

The graveyard

Last Friday my class and I went down to the 16 Ave cemetery. We went there for a statistics investigation. We were put into groups to come up with a question, I was paired with josh and our question was "what year did the most people die in? This was a very interesting thing to do, going down to a cemetery as I have never been into a cemetery before. I was expecting much more zombies than there was.

While we were in the cemetery I saw some lady let her dog go for a walk in the cemetery and it did a poo on a gravestone which is very sad and disrespectful. Before we left we had to wash our hands to ge the tapu off us then we were gone. We will be returning tomorrow.

Homework challenge

A1. Improve your maths ability: Complete a random 10 x 10 grid in under 2 minutes.

Over the last week or so I have been working on this challenge, the first time I did this I took me about 4 minutes, and the more I practiced the better I got at this. By the third time testing me it took me about 3 minutes 23 seconds. Today when I tried I got 1 minute, 56 seconds. This is a great improvement for me I shaved about 3 whole minutes off my first try. As you can see practice does make you perfect.

For my grids my mum did them so that I wouldn't know the answers before I was timed. Some of the grids I found harder than others, which was reflected in the different times I got yet they were still 10 x 10 grids. As you can see practice does make you perfect.

Here are some photos of the girds and my final one with the time I got.

Homework challenge

P6. Walk or run around the waikareao Estuary (or another negotiated walkway) four times with a family member.

Today, 2nd June, I have completed the fourth walk towards this challenge. I was going to head up the Mount, but due to there being a marathon on decided with my mum that it would be better to go back up the Papamoa Hills track. From bottom to top and back again it took me 27 minutes, 18 to get up and 9 to get down, running of course. I possibly could have gone faster but there were a lot of people on the track maybe because the weather was nice and it's a long weekend.

One of the things I have noticed with completing both this challenge and P1 the cycling challenge my fitness over all has improved heaps which has helped with my football. Of the four walks I did the Papamoa Hills walk 3 times and the Waikareao Estuary once, I enjoyed the Waikareao Estuary walk the best because it was the smoothest of them and I enjoyed watching all the crabs scatter as they heard my foot steps.

Here is a photo of me at the start of the Papamoa walk.

Homework challenge

P1. Improve your fitness: Over a 12 week period run or walk at least 60km or cycle 120km.

As you have seen from my earlier posts on this topic I have been cycling to complete 120kms over a 12 week period. After last weekend when my chain broke I was not sure if I would make it in the time line, but my mum got my bike fixed and I have now been able to complete the 120kms with 1 day to spare.

I have cycled the same track to complete this challenge and over this time the city council has been making a new bike track, along the Papamoa reserves, which has made heaps easier complete the task. At the start two sections of the track were all grass and my bike is not a mountain bike, so this made it hard work. Over the weeks these two sections have now been made into a proper track, way to go Tauranga City Council.

Here is the final photo of my graph plotting my progress.

Way to be me, in the morning

If you wish to be me, your day will start around 7:50 with a flicker of lights and your mother yelling at you to get out of bed. After you've rolled out of bed you should seek your uniform from your closet, most mornings its to cold so you can take the covers with you, but this is optional. Once your changed out of your pajamas and are into your fancy uniform you need to walk down the hall, greet your mother with a fake smile and happy voice, otherwise some day she won't wake you up. Now you should be walking down your hall into the kitchen and put your bread into the toaster and wait for it to finnish, you can walk away and do something else at this time, but this is optional.

Once your toast is done put it on a plate, grab your lunch box and bag then sit down in front of the TV and begin your feast. While you are eating you can pack your bag this is a bit of your daily multitasking. When you have finished you meal try to con your mother to drop you off by putting on a sad face and act like your freezing.

Quick story

                                                                            The Flood

I was woken all of a sudden when I feel out of my bed and into a pool of water as I looked around I realized its wasn't my pool it was and stream floating me down stream. I looked around for something I could use to help me float, I saw a wooden some wooden planks floating next to some village hut I swam over to the wooden planks, and noticed something was moving inside the hut something big. All of a sudden a huge hippo snapped out of the hut with a "Harf". I was scared, I had never seen a hippo before, I grabbed the nearest thing I could find, sadly It was some grass, hippos eat grass. The hippo started to come close and close as I was throwing my fist of grass at him.

Now he was about two meters away from me, His jaws snapping his eyes staring straight at me. He lunged at me but I moved and the hippo feel in the water. I furiously swam to the side of the stream where I could hear sirens and cars. Where I was over there, The cops looked at me like I was a criminal I looked back to the hut and to where the hippo had feel in there was nothing there. all that was there was a old village hut nothing at all.

Heart rate

What is a heart rate? A heart rate more commonly know as a pulse. Its pretty much how many times your heart beats in a minute. Your normal heart rate can vary basing or your age weight and how fit you are. If you are 18 or over your heart rate should vary between 60 and 100 while if your someone my age your heart rate can vary between 75 and 110, this is measured in BPM (Beats Per Minute). You can measure your heart rate by putting two fingers at the side of your neck and feel around till you can feel little beeps you can either do this on your neck or on your wrist.

Visit to Room 43

Yesterday me and some other students from my class got and exclusive tour of the new room 43. The students were moved cause their old classroom had burned down caused of a airconditioner that over heated and started a fire. Their new classroom was brought in by a huge truck that carried it in down the drive.

It took the builders about three weeks to build the classroom, it is much better than the ones that the rest of us have, it has much nicer carpet and it feels much warmer. All the students were very nice and well behaved, unlike some people I know. Bobbie Gave us the tour and showed us all of the students individual spaces. It was very cool to see how the other half lives.

Homework challenge

E2. Create an original artwork using recycled materials

At the start of this challenge I though that I would cut out a word in paper then thinly get it smaller and put the smaller piece below the first piece of paper over and over again to give a 3D effect. As I did not have the tools to cut the paper to get the end effect I then remembered some art I had seen of words that gave a shadow and decided to try and make that. To make this I thought of using an empty Heineken box some paint and some tape.

It took me about two weeks to do this, I cut out the letters C, O, O and L then I painted the cardboard white and the cut out letters in grey. We did not have the paint so we went to Mitre 10 and got some test pots. It wasn't easy to get the grey as they don't have a color grey they have things like "north sky"and "Wellington" these are weird names for paint to me.  Once painted and all dry I then had to glue the letters to cardboard and attach these to the back side of the box and then fold the lid over so it formed a box again. This was to give the impression that the letters were shadowed and this is what I got.

Here are some photo's of it.

My Weekend

In my weekend unfortunately it all didn't go as I had planned it to, what I wanted to do this weekend was play computer games and watch tv but I had other things I needed to do, like my homework challenges. One of the funny things that happend was when I was about to go bike down to Gordon Spratt park, my mum was backing the car out of the garage and hit one of the side mirrors on the garbage bin, but its wasn't my mums car it was my dads and when he found out he was furious but he was trying to smile so he was biting his lip.

At the point I decided to go on my ride but only made it a quarter of the way when my bikes chain broke in three places. I had to walk home pushing my bike but what I didn't know was I had my back brake on, you"ll find it hard to believe, but I didn't really notice till I was back home. When I was back home I had Dad take a look to see if there was any thing he could see wrong, surprisingly dad jumped on and tried to ride it thinking that there was nothing wrong with it but sadly the brake was still jammed on so when he was on he just fell straight off, oh how I laughed.

Homework challenge

P1. Improve your fitness. Over a 12 week period run or walk at least 60km or cycle 120km

Today on the 26-05-2013 I was all geared up for a bike ride down to gordon spratt park and back, Mum was going to race me while she was walking the dog. As mum went to back out of the garage she  hit one of the side mirrors on the rubbish bin and broke it, my dad looked so angry cause it was his car. Once we got the broken mirror removed Mum and the dog headed off. Dad fixed my handle bars then I took off as well.

Unfortunately I only got a quarter of the way there to hear a huge "CLUNCK" and my chain had come off, after fixing it twice I found that it was completely broken and had to turn around and walk home. Now I will have to get my chain fixed so I can finnish this challenge within the 12 weeks.

Extinct Animals

The animal I have chosen to say is the pilosaurus ( Predator X)

This animal was from the  Late Jurassic period and was a feared killer in the Europe oceans. This creature was 10 to 20 meteres long its head is about two meteres alone and weighed over 45 tones and could swim over 5 meters a second with its huge flippers attached to its body. Its happy to say that this killer is no longer swimming in our oceans.

Homework Task

P5. Compete in a sport of an entire season

One of the sports that I play and that I have played since the age of five is soccer. I have loved the game ever since I first started. My position that I play in is defense, I usually play on the right wing. Although I don't score goals my position is very important in keeping my team at the top of the table, my job is to stop the oppositions strikers from getting the ball into a position to attack our goalie. I play for Papamoa I have been in reserve grade Papamoa Tigers ever since we first got grades at the age of six.

My team the Papamoa Tigers last year won our grade and in past years have come close. I got a medal last year for fair play. I have been in this team in reserve grade with the same coach but not the same team for over 5 years. I think I've got a really good coach. I have trainings on Thursday and we play games on Saturday. This year  the first four games we play are grading games for the 12/13 year olds and after that the competition will start. Just last Saturday we got smoked by this really really good team, I think they were the Otumoetai premiere team last year, they won the 12/13 grade last year and they were all only 12.

I hope the teams we have to verse in the future won't be as good as them. At the moment my soccer team is being tested to see if we should be in the premiere grade on in the reserves. I hope we can make it into reserves because that Otumoetai team will probably win again and we want a shot at winning.

--------------Here are some photos of my medals from soccer and some in game photos---------------

The Periodic table

The Periodic table is a graph of elements that form our world. There are ten groups of these elements the groups are
Basic Metal,
Non-metal,
Alkali metals,
Alkali, Earth metals,
Semimetals,
Noble gasses,
Halogens,
Transition Metal,
Actinoids and
Metalloids. In total there has been 118 total elements discovered this is very strange to me there are soo many of them but we can't even see them. I think that some day there will be way more of them discovered, I hope I discover one.

Homework Task

S4. Care for younger children: Organise a series of games or activities for younger siblings or neighbors or teach them a dance or instrument

On Monday the 20th of May after school I went to my dad's friends house to teach his eight year old daughter Erina a computer game called Minecraft. Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night zombies, huge spiders, Skeletons and Creepers come out, so you have to make sure to build a shelter before that happens. This is no easy challenge and you need to use all sorts of skills to survive. Erina was wanting to learn as much as she could about playing the game so she could get better and be able to move up the levels in the game.

Erina knew a little bit about the game but she didn't know all the little tips and tricks to making things easier. Over two hours I showed her how to get the items to craft the tools that you need to survive, how to build safer homes and better designs for homes, and how to connect certain blocks using redstone to make wonderful contraptions like traps secrete doors and even songs. Erina had created an olympic arena which was very basic she was now able to improve on this after I've helped her.

At the end of the two hours Erina was having a great time creating and improving the worlds she had created. When she is ready to start to build more advanced creations I have said that I would go back to show her more. This is likely to be in the next couple of weeks.

Science Experiment

Science Experiments

One of my pervious science experiments that I can remember is when I was in primary I did a baking soda volcano. I got all the stuff I need in a kit that I had got for christmas. I put the clay into the mold then waited for it to dry and when it had dried I painted it brow red and yellow this took me about one day. The next day I started to record so I could show it at school. I put the baking soda in said hypothesis which was that the two ingredients would combine and cause it to foam up then I pored the vinegar in and the reaction happened it started to foam up and foam over the miniature volcano  my hypothesis was correct.

Camp

Camp blog post

In the first week of term two room 42 and room 41 when to camp  here are some of my best moments

At camp I am most proud that I did the rabbit run, which is when you run across the field while the parents and Mr hart is shooting paint balls at you. It hurt after I had did it but  while I was running I couldn't feel a thing.

Also at camp believe it or not at camp I willingly went for swim in 6º water, even though it was cold It was still pretty fun.

It made me laugh when Caine was sleep talking about loosing his keys, all when could hear was "WHERES MY KEYS!".

The bigest challenge I had was doing the vertical playpen its pretty much a bunch on tires and wood thats in the shape of a wall, that moves.

The tastiest thing that I had to eat was when we had burgers at camp, I had lettuce cheese tomato sauce and a really nice patty I can still remember the taste now.

The most rewarding thing that I did at was archery and target shooting it was soo much fun because in target shooting I got to use a gun for the first time in my life and I shoot two out of three cans thats pretty go for a beginner. When we were doing archery I got a score of 60 out of a possible 90 I was so happy.

Homework

Today on the 05/05/2013 my mum and I went up Papamoa hills for a walk as one of the tasks for completing homework challenge P6.

We arrived there at 11:45 am and I asked mum if I could run ahead and when I reached the top to just come back down and meet her along the way on my way back down. While I was walking up I noticed there was lots of magic mushrooms, they were red with white spots on them. When I was at half way I saw a huge one I just had to smash it, at the time I was thinking about the smurf movie when the evil wizard finds their village. When I made it to the top I had a awesome view, but sadly I had to go so mum wouldn't catch up. I ran down the hill and saw mum coming I started to walk as I didn't want to waste my energy on the big walk back down. I now have one walk to do to finish this challenge.

Here is a photo of the sign at the bottom, I took this after I came down.

Challenge P1 Improve my fitness over a 12 week period: update

Hi guys sorry I haven't posted this update in a while as my internet was all used up. But anyway here it is. I have been working very hard to improve at this challenge, I think I have done well to get where I am now. What I have been doing is biking down to Gordon Spratt park or to the plaza at Papamoa from my home on my own as often as I can. So here is the graph showing my progress on this task, not much more to go until those 120km's are done.

Money Eater

A man in the US called Wayne left his 12 year old dog alone in his car while he went to have his dinner. The dog, Sundance decided it was dinner to at promptly ate the money he had left in the car. The man returned to find $500 of his own cash gone. Wayne then had to wait till his dog had pooped and looked in it's poop for his money, He managed to get some of the scrapes of it and has sending it to the US Treasury department hoping that they will replace them. He has been told that this process could take up to two years. What a waste of good money

Plane Crash off Runway in Bali

On the 16th of April a Lion Air airplane crashed just off the run way in Bali, there has been no casualties but some of them have been injured. The plane was trying to land at Denpasar's Ngurah Rai international airport. Also photos and a video on Indonesian television show that the plane was split down the middle of the plane, I think this must have been scary to have been on this plane as most crashes lead to deaths.

Game of Phones

Which side will you choose in the battle of brands?

This so called war has being going of for a while now with Apple, Samsung and other brands trying to be the top. Apple triggered this smart phone revolution when they brought out their iphone 1 with all its apps and options. This was followed by the Samsung Galaxy 1 with about the same amount of apps and additions but at a lower price, this was when this started with the iphone 2 coming out recently after the Galaxy.

To date the Apple iphone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Note II with all there apps and sizes but the most amazing thing is about what Samsung's said that they have the software to be abe to move the screen by just moving your eyes. As you can tell this is a war worth fighting for as most of the phones are over $1000 or even more.

Challenge P1 Improve my fitness over a 12 week period

Today on 14-04-13 I have made this chart to help to show my results towards completing this challenge. I will update this every week, and upload it to my blog every two weeks, so you can see my progress also. At the moment I think I am just making it and will have to put in the hard lines to complete this challenge. I think I can do this as and have set myself a target of biking from my home to the Papamoa plaza after school two times a week, this is a distance of 7.3 kms each trip, along with a couple of other rides. Here is my progress so far and a graph showing this.

Challenge P6: walk or run a negotiated walkway four times with a family member

Today on 13-04-13 me and mum went to do the Papamoa hills walk. I reckon it took us about one hour for bottom to top and back again. Along the way we saw lots of other people, families groups and just sole runners / walkers, it was surprising how many people were actually doing this walk on the same day we were.

After walking all the way to the top I though It would be much easer to just wing suit down instead of walking or running, if only. The bad part going back down, was having to go back through all the poop and gravel. Also up top you could see all the way from the Mount down to Te Puke and further, pretty far out. Over all it was a pretty smelly steep walk but worth it. Here are the photos of the day.

Home work

A while ago I had made this weird face out of old CD's, pipe cleaners, sponge and old scraps of material. At the time I was making it for a christmas present for my Dad. Hope you like it, here it is.
